(17/4/99) Kajang Hill
We heard so much about the Kajang Boys (Thirty and Forty somethings but still boys) and their insane downhillings. So we decided to have our first hand experience of these hardcore downhillers. It was a strenous uphill all the way in this heavily infested mosquito's paradise. Everytime we stop for a breather, we had to have a small bonfire just to keep the mosquitos away.
ATA was so enthusiastic about the ride that he hit a hanging fallen tree trunk while going uphill! Now is that hardcore or what?:-) And as we got higher and higher, the thin winding track surrounded by killer trees looked more menacing than ever.
Then came the downhill. The A2W riders went down first with Atan aka Ghani and stopped at a nice corner just to witness the downhillers go down. Boy, what a site it was when they came down flying. Next it was our turn to go down the whole distance. Our fears were confirmed by the fact that our brakes were most of the time rendered useless. And with the winding slim track giving you no choice but to obey its where it wants to take you, you seem to think that it is like hanging on to a raging bull and wondering when is it that you are going to just lose control of it. Luckily for A2W, we all survived the ordeal.
Just when we taught it was all over, the boys decided to go up another hill which they aptly called the fast track. This time only ATA and Tiger Hills joined them and went down first. Well, they don't call it fast track for nothing. One of the riders crashed and luckily for him he had his body armour and full face helmet.
A special thanks is accorded to Atan for following behind us on the downhill and at the same time gave pointers on how to tackle the menacing "Busybody" track. |
