(24/4/99) Bukit Kiara

Fresh from the Kajang hill, Tiger Hills decided to take up on the offer by Pat Pigpen Brunsdon and Simon Kenney to try out the Kiara Hills. After all, what can be worst than Kajang Hill?

We met at the Petronas station and then went straight for the hill. But alamak! before anything we had to carry our bikes and hike up this almost vertical path. After some easy cycling, then came Jack and the beanstalk task of going up the water reservoir road and continue even further on another steep off-road stretch.

Then came the downhill time. Tiger Hills actually walked down two stretches and rode on the others a bit. Finally came the last stretch... Pat and Simon actually reminded Tiger Hills to smile when going down on this stretch. I wonder why? Maybe they were thinking he who smiles the last smiles the most? The last stretch turned out to the no turning back stretch! Brakes? what brakes. It was so steep and very technical that if a video cameraman were to take me in action, I would have looked like a pro sliding left and right. But if a camera were to be located on my helmet and pointed at my face, you'd think that I've never seen so many ghosts in my life!

Finally, towards the end, the inevitable had to happen. There were one too many trees in the way and Tiger hills had to test the flexibility of this particular tree trunk. For one whole week Tiger Hills had a nice world map on his right chest :-)

(25/4/99) Janda Baik with Cycleflex group

cycleflex jandabaikA2W decided to try out joining the Cycleflex group on this trip. However, it turned out to be a road ride. All A2W riders decided to tke the easy way out by joining the riders at Genting Sempah rather than start from Mimaland and cycle uphill on road for 17kms.

Its nice to see that this cycleflex bunch of riders are so passionate about cycling and determined to improve themselves while at the same time are jovial with each other.

What was supposed to be an easy ride from Genting Sempah to Janda Baik turned out to be quite an ardent task as well. By the time we got down to Mimaland again, it was quite a workout.

We had a new member by the name of  Eddie Cool who impressively rode through out the distance even though it was his first time. Welcome Eddie Cool.
