Critics who claim that the track is too difficult, fail to understand that because of such tracks our standard increases definitely. I for one actually walked on some parts of the XC track when I first tried out the track a month before the race. But because I still wanted to race, I had no choice but to come to terms with my fears and ended up actually riding the fearsome stretches during the race. Now that in effect made me a better rider than before and definitely if there were no such tracks available my riding technique improvement would have taken a longer time.

Sure, the muddy conditions made it extra difficult and tiring but everybody had to go through it anyway.
