Contrary to it being touted as more of a brains rather than brawn race, you still have to be a strong rider to win. This was probably due to the organisers having in mind that the Polaris being the first in Malaysia, made it extremely easy to collect points along a too-logical trail.

Sure, there were strong riders who did badly in this race, but if one were to spend a little more time in their pre-race strategy, it doesn't take much to plot out the best route. As such, the top four teams all got the full points and it was only the time taken that made the difference where the strongest riders win.
